It's fast becoming a tradition - we want your feedback!

Were the Spinetinglers Committee right?  Cool
Did we pick the right winner?  Grin
Or, do you think we got it completely wrong!   Embarrassed

Vote for your favourite from November's winning stories.

Once again - whichever story gets the most votes will get a special ezine dedicated to them and a feature in the News Section.  Hopefully if the author is agreeable we'll also be able to do an interview with the author of your winning story!

I thought Wilderness was cool but I was curious about the stories that didn't make the top five.   About my post I was responding more to the people who left the positive reviews.   That story that I got published here will be featured in two anthologies - Diabolic Tales 1 and Macabre Productions Anthology Volume 2.   Thank you for reading the non-fiction story, and I am hoping I can find a home with it.  If I can't get it placed anywhere because of its size I will place it in my own magazine being I am opening up submissions to six fiction stories and six nonfiction stories between 2300 up to 9900 words.   I am trying to average the magazine out to about 200 pages.

I like Plea from the Cradle. It had a nasty, satirical edge to it. I'm a big fan of zombie stories and this reminded me of various things i like, which is nice!

oops, must get back to work.....  Lips sealed

I left comments on three of the stories earlier, but now when I try to look at the stories from November 2006, I get a message that says there are no stories. What's up? I'd really like to read the other two.

ETA: I can't see the stories from any month. Maybe the search is broken...

JB,  I read that one too and thought it was pretty damn cool too.  Mine got picked up by two anthologies,  you can read this one a head of time because it will be part of Diabolic Tales 1: An Anthology of Dark Minds and on Macabre Productions Anthology: Volume Two.    The story you're looking for in both these anthologies, Spectral Exile.  It story got some noticed by both editors, and trying to get it placed in a couple of magazines too.   I wrote that story after my room mate told the story of her friend pulling each member of the Gothic Scene in Chicago.  I tooke that to heart and did a story that did the same thing but on a more graphic level.

The venue in the story was originally a theater that was destroyed in the Chicago fire.  The ghosts in the story were remaining victims from the fire and the goth club disturbed the spirits in the club.  So the blood flies and no fatalities,  just badly mutilated victims from glass breaking, and a carefree DJ who doesn't pay attention to the surroundings.  It is told from the point of view of the writer who goes to the club on his day off and then from the friends of the writer who happened to be EMT's,  and one of the EMT's had a sister who was the EMT in the novella "Halloween On Camera."   I like Wilderness, but I liked some of the other stories listed along there better but I wish the names who wrote them were revealed.

Grrr..This web site keeps logging me out randomly and I just lost a whole post. Here it goes again:

Okay, it's working again, and I can read the stories. I also pick "Wilderness" for the best. I thought that the two top stories were "Wilderness" and "The Truth Killers." However, "Truth Killers" had POV problems and the story seemed a bit...well...formulaic. I've read something very similar before. I think that "Wilderness" did a better job with the werewolf idea.

Despite all the jerkholes attempts to dump on my story,  it is still going to be in two anthologies.  I am not going to mention the details until later on. The one it was originally slated to appear in ended up dropping it but told me they will hold on to it.   I just signed the contract for the other anthology a few days ago.  I am working on a brand new story right now and thinking where to try it out at.  I got rejected from Storyteller magazine. They loved the story but didn't know where to place it because it was nonfiction.  I got something coming out later on too and got the galleys back for it.

I got new local readers too because of Spectral, and working on something much different from that one.  Some of you dumped on this story you know who you are,  I want to see you come up with something better and submit it to the competition.   And cease from harassing the publishers who are running my work, let them run it and let me get the readership legitimately.  I know that these jerkholes eat the peanuts out of each others crapper and this story did get featured in a newsletter too by an organization I am one of the charter members of.

For the authors (or originators) of the Spinetinglers stories, regarding the reader's posted opinions: Don't mistake an honest and informed opinion for "dumping."

To all wannabe writers out there in cyberspace: Don't mistake a love of reading for a talent for writing.

-Pete

PS - As I've stated elsewhere, the genre deserves the best work achievable.
